Oak Harbor football rallies to stay unbeaten

OAK HARBOR — Josiah Miller had another standout performance and was instrumental in Oak Harbor’s come-from-behind victory over Mount Vernon Friday night. Miller had 16 carries for 219 yards and four rushing touchdowns, along with 3 receptions for 112 yards and two touchdowns receiving.

Turnovers were the key, according to Oak Harbor head coach Jay Turner. “It was back and forth in the first half … Mount Vernon had a few more (turnovers), and that helped out in the second half.”

Oak Harbor led 28-27 at halftime, but gave up the lead in early in the second half as Mount Vernon scored early out of halftime. But Oak Harbor reeled off four straight touchdowns — the final two courtesy of Miller — to pull away in the nonconference matchup.

The win keeps No. 10 Oak Harbor and Meadowdale as the only remaining undefeated teams in the Wesco 3A.
