LYNNWOOD — A house fire in the Lynnwood area on Wednesday started when furniture ignited next to a heater, officials said.
The fire was reported about 4:15 p.m. in the 19800 block of Damson Road, east of Lynnwood. The house was engulfed in flames when crews arrived. No one was home, and no injuries were reported.
Investigators determined that a wooden entertainment center had been left too close to a wall heater, officials said. The heater had turned on the night before.
The fire destroyed the house, causing about $50,000 in damage. Two people were displaced.
Fire prevention experts say anything combustible should be left at least three feet away from heaters of any kind.
