Intermec, the largest public company based in Snohomish County, has a new person at the top. The company’s board of directors named Patrick Byrne as president and chief executive officer of the Everett-based maker of inventory tracking technology. Byrne most recently served as senior vice president of Agilent Technologies. He succeeds Larry Brady, who announced his retirement in March.
The first tenant
Cinetopia, a cinema, restaurant, wine bar and garden, will be the first business in the redevelopment of Everett’s riverfront area, the former site of a mill and a dump. The business won’t open until 2010, but it’s the first to commit to the city’s redevelopment project.
The remodel
The Top Foods grocery in Snohomish has completed an extensive remodeling project that created a new dining area, expanded the deli and added an espresso stand, a chocolate shop and a new bakery.

The price drop
After peaking at $3.23 in May, gas prices have dropped to an average of about $3 per gallon in the Seattle-Everett area, with some stations selling it for $2.75.
