Here’s some quick math:
10 X 10 = 100
That’s the number of works of art you can expect to see at Lowell Art Works’ new show, “10 X 10 for 2010!”
Ten well known local artists bring 10 pieces of their work representing the past 10 years of their artistic lives.
The 10 artists on display are painter Cheri O’Brien; painter, illustrator and muralist Jules Anslow; sculptor Reg Akright; painter Ursula Stocke; painter and print artist Shari Osti; painter Nikki Wheeler; illustrator and painter Justin Hillgrove; painter Mike Capp; painter and plasterer Loren Smedberg; and tattoo artist Michael T. Gardner.
“10 X 10 for 2010!” opens with a free reception from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Lowell Art Works, 5205 S. Second Ave., Everett.
The show runs through Feb. 14.
Fathom this art: These artists get to the bottom of their subject — it just so happens to be the bottom of the ocean.
Instead of bringing home pictures of tourist attractions, these three photographers find the unseen under the waves during deep-sea diving expeditions with their cameras in tow.
The three photographers are Mary Bess Johns of Mukilteo, Tim Dold of Bellevue and Dan Clements of Everett.
Their subjects include local giant Pacific octopus, anemone, wolf eel, jelly fish, a great white shark and a leafy dragon seahorse.
“The Underwater Photography Exhibit” is on view through March 5 at Sisters Restaurant, 2804 Grand Ave., Everett.
“Work” is the name of mixed- media artist Juliette Ricci’s collection of work on display at WiseDesignz in Everett through January.
Ricci earned her bachelor of fine arts degree at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with an emphasis on painting and photography. She continued her studies at Everett Community College pursuing an intensive photography program.
Ricci’s style as a mixed-media painter is to combine painting and words and photography, using bold colors.
Visitors can meet Ricci during a reception from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at WiseDesignz Custom Framing &Fine Art Gallery, 2908 Wetmore Ave., Everett.
