Add pomp to your ears with pompoms

1. Pompom earrings.

These fluffy dangling balls are trending for spring, says Mill Creek fashion blogger Anne Dofelmier. And it goes beyond the ears.

“Pompoms are turning up on just about everything from clothing to shoes to purses,” she write in her blog, Daily Fashion Muse.

“I will admit that I had put quite a few pairs of earrings into my cyberspace shopping cart on many websites, but could never quite pull the trigger into making the purchase. The reason was, that I just kept saying to myself: ‘I could make that.’”

So, she did. “If you are anything like me, once you make one pair you will not be able to stop and suddenly you will have 10 pairs.”

She created a DIY at www.dailyfashionmuse.com.

2. Say cheese.

Put American cheese and white bread on your shopping list. Or Swiss and rye. Gouda and sourdough.

April is National Grilled Cheese Month and April 12 is Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day. Read about the many ways you can get cheesy in this Wednesday’s Herald food page.

Better have a can of tomato soup at the ready for a classic meal.

3. Get your spaghetti and meatballs fix.

The annual Spayghetti and No Balls dinner raises funds for the Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project, a Lynnwood clinic that provides free and low cost spay and neuter services. More than 107,000 cats have been fixed at the clinic at 4001 198th St. SW.

The Spayghetti and No Balls dinner is 5 to 8 p.m. April 23 at Old Rainier Factory, 3100 Airport Way S., Seattle. Cost is $25 for a spaghetti and the fixings. Wine and beer is $10 per glass.
