It’s graduation time, and the students of Covenant Art Glass are ready to show off their culminating project: Tiffany-style lamps.
The nine students will present their heirloom-quality Tiffany lampshades during a weeklong exhibition at Covenant Art Glass, kicking off with a graduation celebration Sunday to mark the completion of this five-month-long glass class.
The lamps were created by the students under the guidance of teachers Nancy Alexander and Tami Bogdanoff.
These teachers selected hand-rolled glass for the students because of its similarities to the glass Louis Comfort Tiffany used.
Then lamp designs were chosen and classes began in January. Every other Wednesday evening from January to May, the students worked, cutting, grinding, fitting, wrapping and soldering hundreds of pieces of glass.
The lampshade design themes this year included dragonfly, peony, magnolia and pansy.
The Tiffany Lamp Exhibition kicks off with a free open house from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Covenant Art Glass, 3232 Broadway, Everett.
Guests at the reception can ask questions of the students and vote for the People’s Choice Award for the best lamp. Refreshments will be served.
