EVERETT — “For the Birds,” a birdhouse contest and auction, is planned by Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens to celebrate the organization’s 60th anniversary and to raise funds for the renovation of its Backyard Garden.

Event organizers urge participants to showcase their creativity and imagination. Birdhouses may be designed for specific bird species or be purely decorative. They can be designed for indoor or outdoor use, but to be eligible for the “Best in Show” prize of $250 at the auction, set for Dec. 2, birdhouses must be suitable for outdoor display.
