The Camano Arts Association has 90 artist members, but they haven’t had a place where they could show their work together — until now.

The group will have its fall art sale Saturday at Camano Center. It’s a kind of pop-up gallery show with the creations of more than 40 artists — paintings, pottery, fabric art, jewelry and woodworking, said Jason Dorsey, who organized the show.

“This will be really fun to be all under the same roof,” Dorsey said.

The artwork will be priced from under $10 to around $200.

“There’s great local art that’s affordable,” Dorsey said. “It’s like you get to go shopping at a little art fair with local artists with little storefronts they’ve created.”

The artists can sell their work at lower prices because they’re not paying a commission on their sales, he said.

“It will be a great opportunity to shop locally and get holiday gifts,” Dorsey added.

The event will feature a main gallery where each artist will display a single artwork. The artists also will have individual spaces to display all the works they have for sale.

Sally Chang, who specializes in ceramics, has been a member of the local arts group for six years. She calls her creations “perfectly imperfect” because they all are handmade. She said she plans to bring tableware and indoor-outdoor ceramics priced from $20 to $200.

“I like to be able to talk to people and find out what they’re looking for, and see what I can come up with — something for them, for special gifts,” she said. “That’s the fun part for me.”

Glassblower Mark Ellinger said he plans to have up to 30 of his pieces for sale, including snails, gnomes, wizards, pumpkins, bowls and a table lamp. Look for his glass steller jay sitting on a piece of driftwood in the main gallery.

There’s another art event this weekend at Camano Center. A private, formal-attire party Friday evening. It’s the launch of a fundraising effort to offer classes and workshops at Camano Center next year.

Those programs could include introductory courses in drawing or painting with watercolors or acrylics, or perhaps classes to help people learn how to write and illustrate children’s books.

“It’s really exciting to offer programming for our community,” Dorsey said.

“What we’re trying to do is make it a center of and destination for art,” he said.
