What: This dwarf Japanese cedar has an interesting short-tufted growth pattern, forming an irregular pyramidal shape. The tight congested branching of Cryptomeria japonica “Tansu” has a sculptural quality that comes naturally with little pruning. The branches are dark green and can take on a blush of bronze during the winter if grown in full sun. It is perfect for containers and planting where space is limited.

Where: “Tansu” thrives in full sun to dappled shade. It prefers a site with well-drained soil, but it will tolerate sandy or clay soils.

Size: This dwarf Japanese cedar will grow to be 4 feet tall and 4 feet wide when mature.

Care: During dry weather, provide regular to occasional watering. It needs very little pruning.
