Bernie Fale and Jim Cuthill shared top place in the first division Saturday by carding 70s. Jack Wallace set the pace in second division with a 69, followed by Gary Botesch at 71, and Paul Morris at 72. Gordon Hutchings netted 70 to win in the third division. Art Larson was second with a 72.

Lynnwood’s council was meeting for the first time tonight in its new City Hall at 19524 56th Ave. W. It was a former residence.

25 YEARS AGO (1984)

The new year would open with a splash because Everett’s Forest Park Swim Center was scheduled to reopen. During its closure, a permanent shake roof, new lighting, landscaping and an energy-saving water heating and dehumidifying system were added.

Recent Army promotions included Richard Wight of Everett, at military Personnel Center, Alexandria, Va., to master sergeant, and Patrick J. Jeffries, also of Everett, a Fort Lewis infantryman, to sergeant.
