“Yeoman of the Guard” is a classic Gilbert and Sullivan comic opera with the usual plot twists and a delightful musical score. It opens at 8 tonight for a three-weekend run at the PUD Auditorium, 2320 California St., Everett The Northwest Savoyard’s production plays at 8 p.m. Saturdays and 2 :30 p.m. Sundays. Fashions and accessories with an artistic flair are on sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at the Monte Cristo Hotel ballroom. 1507 Wall St., Everett. It’s part of Girls Night Out, a day of activities for women in downtown Everett sponsored by the Arts Council of Snohomish County; www.girlsnightout.us.

Learn the basics on mushrooms – what to pick, what to skip, how to cook them, preserve them and find them – at Sunday’s fall Mushroom Show in Everett. The show, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Floral Hall Forest Park, is presented by the Snohomish County Mycological Society. Free admission; www.scmsfungi.org.

The Marysville Rock and Gem Club hosts its annual rock and gem show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Sunday at Marysville Junior High School cafeteria, 1605 Seventh St. The Rocktoberfest Gem and Mineral Show features dozens of exhibits, vendors, demonstrations and door prizes. A musical version of “The Three Little Pigs” is presented in a family show for young children at 11 a.m., 1 and 3 p.m. today at the PUD Auditorium, 2320 California St., Everett. It’s a production of StoryBook Theatre, which begins its sixth season of shows for kids in Everett. Tickets are $7.50 at the door; 877-827-1110.

“The Cat &the Canary” is a silent film classic that introduced a classic movie setup: old house, dark night, guests gathered for the reading of the will and trouble afoot. The 1927 film screens at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Ave., as part of the theater’s Silents, Please! Films series. Theater organist Dennis James provides the musical atmosphere.
