Tell us what you love about Mom

1. Love your mom

It can pay off. You can win a $100 gift card to Renee’s Contemporary Clothing — for her.

And you can get her picture in the paper.

You will be her favorite child.

Tell us in 150 words (or fewer) what makes your mother special. The Daily Herald will run the winning story in The Good Life section on Mother’s Day, May 14.

Email your entry by May 5 to: features@heraldnet.com. Or mail to Herald Features, 1800 41st Street, S-300, Everett, WA 98203. Call 425-339-3046 if you have questions.

Please include your phone number — and your favorite photo of you and your mom.

2. Love Lynnwood logo

The city of Lynnwood is holding a T-shirt design contest to celebrate what you love about living, working and/or playing in the city.

The prize is $500. A panel of art professionals and community members will choose the winner by June 30. Designs will be evaluated based on creative and/or funny, as well as eye-catching appeal. Winning design will be made into T-shirts and showcased at events. Top designs will also be posted on the city’s Facebook page for the “People’s Choice” award.

Entrants do not have to live in Lynnwood and can enter two designs. Deadline is May 31. More at www.HealthyLynnwood.com.

3. Love rain

A walking tour of rain gardens in north Everett is 5:30 p.m. May 4, starting at Washington Oakes, 1717 Rockefeller Ave. Get inspired and learn more about these unique landscaped gardens that help manage stormwater runoff. “Make it, Take it” workshops are 7 p.m. May 9 and 10 a.m. June 3, 3101 Cedar St., to make your own 55-gallon barrel for $40. RSVP for the workshop at 425-257-8992. More at www.everettwa.gov/LetitRain.
