What: If you’ve been looking for a cleaning device somewhere in between a full-size vacuum and a small hand vac, you might take a look at the lightweight Shark Cordless VX3 sweeper by Shark Euro-Pro.
Advantages: The VX3 sweeper — which isn’t a vacuum cleaner as previously stated in Home Front last May — is like a motorized Hoky, you know, like those square carpet sweepers restaurateurs use to grab crumbs left under tables. The VX3, which we recently tested, can sweep under some furniture and tucks away easily thanks to a bendable handle. It can also snag pet hair and crumbs that some vacuums leave behind.
Limitations: It uses a rechargeable battery pack, which powers the vacuum for 60 to 90 minutes in a single charge. Battery life expectancy is about six months to a year, based on an average household usage. Replacement packs are available through Shark Euro-Pro for $23.80.
Cost: $79.80
Where: Look for it at Bed, Bath &Beyond, Target, Kohls and Linens ‘N Things.
