Take the family on a clamming trip to Birch Bay, north of Bellingham, July 14 with Everett Parks and Recreation Department.
Dig for steamers, butter clams and horse clams and learn to identify them and other marine life. After clamming, the party will gather at Birch Bay State Park to cook up the catch.
Participants must have a valid Washington license for shellfish/seaweed harvest. A license is available online (fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov) or at local sporting goods stores.
Transportation, instruction, cooking equipment and recipes will be provided. Fees are $39 for adults and $29 for youths (ages 6 to 17 with participating adult).
The group will depart at 8 a.m. July 14 from the recreation office at Forest Park, 802 E. Mukilteo Blvd., Everett. Return will be about 4 p.m.
