KENT — A 24-year-old man convicted in the stabbing death of a Des Moines woman was sentenced Wednesday in Kent to 40 years in prison.
A jury convicted Daniel Alexander Threadgill in February of first-degree murder. The standard sentence is 22 to 28 years. King County prosecutors asked for the exceptional sentence because of the brutal way Jennifer Walstrand was killed in August 2010. She was stomped on the head and stabbed at least 63 times.
KIRO-TV reports Threadgill addressed the court at the Regional Justice Center, crying and maintaining innocence.
