EVERETT — A group of female suspects stole approximately $2,500 worth of merchandise, including a quinceanera dress, on Sept. 9 from a boutique in Everett.
Around 2:30 p.m. Sept. 9, officers responded to a report of four female suspects who allegedly robbed Las Tres Beautifuls Boutique in the 9600 block of Evergreen Way. Some of the women had children with them at the time, Everett police spokesperson Natalie Given said.
Eli Vazquez, the boutique owner’s daughter, was in the store alone when two women with a baby entered, asking to try on dresses. While talking with the suspects, two more women, also carrying a baby, walked in and grabbed one of the dresses, Vazquez said.
While the first two suspects distracted Vazquez, the other suspects hid merchandise under their ankle-length skirts before all four suspects fled together, an Everett Police Department press release said.
When Vazquez attempted to stop them from leaving and requested the merchandise be returned, the suspects physically restrained her and tried to stop her from calling the police.
The altercation continued to the parking lot, where the suspects fled in a minivan, the release said.
The suspects allegedly struck Vazquez with the van as she tried photographing their license plate, Vazquez said.
During the initial response, officers were unable to locate the vehicle, the release said.
The suspects stole a custom dress the boutique made for Beautiful Catrina, a cultural event in November, of which Las Tres Beautifuls is the main sponsor.
“It’s basically a thank you to the community for supporting our business in Everett,” Vazquez said.
The Boutique spent nine months making the dress, and they will not be able to replace or recover the loss.
Vazquez said multiple businesses reached out after the incident, claiming the same thing had happened to them.
“It’s not the first, second, or third time they’ve done this,” she said.
