UPDATE: The U.S. 2 lane closure scheduled for 9 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday has been postponed due to a delay in obtaining material. It will be rescheduled.

SNOHOMISH — Drivers who plan to use U.S. 2 this weekend should prepare for backups near Snohomish.

A contractor crew is scheduled to replace expansion joints on the Pilchuck River bridge between 9 p.m. Friday and 4 a.m. Monday. The work depends on the weather.

Flaggers will close one lane and alternate traffic on U.S. 2, east of Highway 9.

The Washington State Department of Transportation recommends alternate routes, driving during non-peak hours in the early morning and late evening, or delaying the trip for another weekend if possible. Carpooling and transit can also help reduce backups.
