BOTHELL — A Bothell man reportedly started making death threats two weeks before he bludgeoned his father to death with a baseball bat, prosecutors wrote in new charging papers.
His father, Robert Wollman, was dead by the time first responders arrived to his house. He was 72.
Last month, Snohomish County prosecutors charged Gavin Wollman, 35, with second-degree murder for the fatal attack.
A woman called 911 early on the morning of June 3 to report a man, later identified as Gavin Wollman, showed up on her doorstep asking for help.
“I need an aid car,” Gavin Wollman said repeatedly, the woman reported.
The woman’s husband walked downstairs, spoke with Gavin Wollman and called 911. The suspect reportedly told a dispatcher he hit his father with headphones. But when the dispatcher asked more questions, the story “altered,” prosecutors wrote. Gavin Wollman reported he hit his father with a baseball bat.
Police arrived to the 3000 block of 211th Street SE, the charges say, and found Robert Wollman’s body in a recliner chair. He had suffered a head injury.
The suspect was arrested outside and taken into the police station for questioning.
After the attack, Gavin Wollman reportedly told police he went upstairs and checked on his mother. Then he brushed his teeth, washed up and went to sleep.
Gavin Wollman went downstairs the next morning and saw his father, motionless, on a recliner chair, according to his statement to police. He reported he ran out to his neighbor’s house to call for an ambulance.
The suspect’s mother reportedly told police her husband “could not have been a better father.”
Gavin Wollman remained in custody Tuesday afternoon with bail set at $1 million. His next court appearance was scheduled for July 12.
