EDMONDS – The Edmonds-to-Kingston ferry run is down to a one-boat schedule as crews work to repair the ferry Walla Walla.
Problem with bearings in the propeller shaft has forced ferry officials to pull the Walla Walla out of service, Washington State Ferries spokeswoman Susan Harris said.
Officials don’t yet know how long it will take to fix the problem, Harris said.
“It may be several days,” she said this morning.
Several options to return the route to full service are being explored and officials hope to announce a solution by this afternoon. They may move ferries from other routes to fill in for the Walla Walla.
Wait times this morning were backed up to two hours, Harris said.
The Edmonds-to-Kingston ferry run is used by commuters and commercial traffic between the I-5 corridor and the Olympic peninsula.
