EDMONDS — At its regular meeting Tuesday, the Edmonds City Council will consider the purchase of 1 acre of land for $925,000 along the Interurban Trail.
The property has been owned by the Mee family for 50 years. Purchasing it would expand Mathay-Ballinger Park, the only city-owned park in southeast Edmonds. The asking price is below the
estimate of a city-ordered appraisal.
It would be funded by cash set aside by the city for buying park land. The city also has tentative funding for 75% of the purchase through the Snohomish County Conservation Futures Grant Program, if approved by the County Council in December.
If the Edmonds City Council approves the purchase, it could allow for a new trailhead for the Interurban Trail.
