EDMONDS — Police are considering the possibility of gang violence as part of its investigation into the shooting of an 18-year-old male on Thursday, Edmonds police Cmdr. Josh McClure said Friday.
McClure did not provide more details but said the shooting victim remains in critical condition Friday at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The shooting incident happened around 2:30 a.m. Thursday when the 18-year-old and his sister were walking along the Edmonds Pier. That’s when they encountered four to six males in the area of Dayton Street and Admiral Way, according to police.
After a brief verbal exchange, police said one or more suspects shot the victim multiple times and then fled the area on foot. No suspects are in custody or have been identified at this time.
The sister ran for safety and was able to call 911. Arriving officers located the victim and provided life-saving measures, including tourniquets and chest seals.
Detectives did not have suspect descriptions as of 11 a.m. Friday. They continue to search for available surveillance footage from the area.
