Electrical fire on roof of Marysville school extinguished

There was no apparent structural damage to Cascade Elementary School.

MARYSVILLE — Firefighters put out an electrical fire Thursday afternoon on the roof of the Cascade Elementary School gymnasium.

There was no apparent structural damage to the building, said Christie Veley, spokeswoman for the Marysville Fire District.

Crews were called around 4:10 p.m. for a report of smoke at the school on 5200 100th Street NE, Veley said. A two-alarm response was soon downgraded as firefighters brought the fire under control. Problems originated in some mechanical equipment for the building’s heating or ventilation system.
