VASHON — A witness says a Washington state ferry crew quickly rescued a man reported overboard from the ferry Issaquah as it was pulling into Vashon Island.
KOMO-TV reported that one of its staffers was aboard the ferry and watched as the crew rescued the man within two minutes Friday.
Witness Gregg Hersholt says that after the “man overboard” announcement, he looked out the windows and saw what appeared to be a middle-aged man doing the back stroke in an effort to stay afloat. Crew members launched an inflatable craft and rescued him.
They then began treating the man for hypothermia.
It wasn’t clear how the man ended up in the water.
