Orca stories in Everett

Hear some Killer Whale Tales, 1 p.m. Saturday at the Northwest Stream Center at McCollum Park, 600 128th St. SE, Everett. Cost is $5 for Adopt A Stream Foundation members, $7 non-members, benefiting Streamkeeper Academy. Registration required. Come early to see a trout stream exhibit and stroll the nature trail.

The Snohomish County Clothing and Textile Advisors holds its annual fabric sale, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Valley View Bible Church, 9717 31st Ave. SE, Everett. Fabric and yarn for $1 a pound. Humane Society volunteers

The Humane Society at HappyPaws Farm seeks volunteers to help walk large dogs on afternoons at the shelter. Volunteers should be at least 18 years old and experienced with dogs, 19933 Old Burn Road in Arlington. Other volunteers are needed to cut grass, raise funds for dog and cat food for an animal food bank and vet expenses, and other tasks.

Hoofstock! for horses

Hoofstock! is the Northwest Equine Stewardship Center’s annual Summer Solstice Music Festival to support both humans and horses in need. The family-friendly event is set for 2 to 8 p.m. June 23 at Cedarbrook Farms, 9812 215th Ave. SE, Snohomish. Live music, tours, activities and more. Cost is $20, $35 per couple, or $50 per family at the door, with discounts available for pre-purchased tickets.

The nonprofit is a horse rescue center that offers educational and therapeutic programs.

HEADS UP

Spada Lake recreation closures

Construction-related closures continue at Spada Lake north of Sultan. Culmback Dam Road is closed to the public, including pedestrians, at Olney Pass, through mid-July. The Diversion Dam Road is closed potentially through July 1.

The South Shore Road and associated sites are open.

The construction involves the city of Everett and the Snohomish County Public Utility District. The city owns the lake, which provides drinking water to much of the county. The PUD runs the Jackson hydropower station.
