Learn about weeds
The Edmonds Floretum Garden Club is presenting a workshop March 5. Joan Helbacka will discuss “Weeds and Other Naughty Plants” from a home gardener’s perspective, including strategies to minimize problem plants in the landscape. She has gardened in the Puget Sound area for more than 40 years and has been a Master Gardener since 1997. Geraldine Saw, weed control agent with Snohomish County Noxious Weed Control, will discuss “Noxious Weeds in Edmonds.” Learn about weed identification and classification and the strategies to reduce their impact. The workshop runs from 10 a.m. to noon at the Edmonds’ Coldwell Banker Bain meeting room, 108 5th Ave. S, Edmonds. The workshop is free; donations are accepted.
Parenting tips: A presentation, “Dishes to Doggie Duty: Getting Your Kiddos to Help with Chores,” is scheduled from 11 a.m. until noon Saturday at the Mukilteo Library, 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd. Learn why it is important for kids to do chores, how and when to get them started, and what is age appropriate. The session will be led by Lauren Leiker, certified parent coach and educator. For more information, call the library at 425-493-8202.
