Nimitz back in port

The USS Nimitz returned to Navy Station Everett on Friday after a brief trip to the San Francisco Bay for the 75th anniversary of the opening of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Sailors in their dress whites lined the rails of the aircraft carrier’s deck May 28 as the warship passed beneath the bridge, with thousands of people watching.

Active Duty

Navy Fireman Shelby Zaragoza, son of Shonda and Guadalupe Zaragoza of Sultan, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Zaragoza is a 2012 graduate of Sultan High School.

Navy Seaman Mitchel Dodson, son of Traci Sensel of St. Louis, Mo., and Raymond A. Dodson of Everett, recently completed basic training at U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Dodson is the brother of Bradly Dodson of Everett and is a 2007 graduate of Marysville Pilchuck High School.

Army Pvt. Andrew Montoya has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Montoya is the son of Jack Montoya of Everett. He is a 2010 graduate of Mariner High School,

Navy Seaman Apprentice Tre Harris, son of Megan and stepson of Daryl Wenthur of Lake Stevens, was recently promoted to his current rank upon graduation from recruit training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Harris is a 2011 graduate of Lake Stevens High School.
