EVERETT — The Lynnwood City Council unanimously confirmed Monday the nomination of Jared Bond as director of the city’s Public Works Department.
Bond is filling the role of former director Bill Franz, who retired in December after working for the city for 33 years.
In 1998, Bond started his Lynnwood career as an engineering technician. He later served as project manager, supervisor and operations manager. For the past four years, he’s been one of two deputy directors for the Public Works Department.
“Jared Bond is an inspiring leader. He cares deeply for his staff and this city, and he takes great pride in his work,” said Lynnwood Mayor Christine Frizzell at Monday’s meeting. “His ability to lead, collaborate, communicate and strategize will be a tremendous asset in his role as our next director. I look forward to his leadership in this department’s next chapter.”
In his time in the department, Bond oversaw the city’s wastewater treatment plant upgrade project, established the Fish Hatchery and Environmental Education Center, and created the Tree Voucher Program.
Bond holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental policy and planning and a master’s in public administration. He also holds the highest level water distribution manager certification.
“Lynnwood’s infrastructure is the pillar upon which the quality of life in this City is built, and it is the duty of the Public Works Department to build and maintain it,” Bond said in a press release Wednesday. “This is a responsibility that I and my staff take very seriously. As your Public Works Director, I will lead our department with integrity, honesty, and transparency and continue to ensure that Lynnwood is a recognized regional leader for all the services we provide.”
