MABTON — A 24-year-old man who has been convicted of reckless driving, arrested for impersonating a police officer to a group of teenage girls and charged with stalking is running for city council in the small Yakima County town of Mabton.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reported thet Freddy Perales, 24, said he hopes voters look past his laundry list of minor run-ins with authority.

Perales said he was “young and dumb” when he had issues with law enforcement.

Perales is seeking Position 3 on the Mabton City Council in the November election. Mabton has about 2,000 residents.

Though he has been free of criminal charges for a few years, some of his troubles are recent. Two people have one-year anti-harassment orders against him that started this summer.
