INDEX — A 24-year-old man was feared to have drowned Monday after jumping into the water near Eagles Falls at the South Fork Skykomish River near Index.
Members of the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office dive team were searching for him Monday evening.
The sheriff’s office’s reported through social media that the man jumped in the water and didn’t resurface.
Crews from Snohomish County Fire District 7 as well as Gold Bar were part of the search.
Spring can be a particularly dangerous time of year around lakes and rivers, according to the sheriff’s office and local fire districts.
In late spring and early summer, the weather gets hot but lakes and rivers remain cold, and river currents are strong.
