EVERETT — The Marysville City Council is inviting public review and comment on the city’s use of federal funding in 2024 for low-income housing projects and services that expand economic opportunities for low-income people, a press release said.
The public can provide comment on Marysville’s Community Development Block Grants Program during a public hearing at 7 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Marysville Civic Center, 501 Delta Ave. Email written comments to kbird@marysvillewa.gov by 4 p.m. that day.
The CDBG program provides annual grants to help support cities’ low-income communities by funding housing projects and services, according to the city’s website. The funds for these grants are determined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development based on poverty levels, population, housing overcrowding, age of housing and if a city’s population is less than the expected rate.
A report detailing how the city progressed in carrying out CDBG objectives in 2024 can be downloaded at marysvillewa.gov/434/community-development-block-grants.
Projects and programs that received funds, the press release said, include a new roof for the Marysville Community Food Bank and renovations to the Marysville Boys & Girls Club. Services that allowed low-income seniors and disabled adults to remain in their homes also received funding.
The program also supported in-home meals for those in need and meals for low-income and homeless school children, the release said.
