EVERETT — The Washington State Department of Transportation reopened State Highway 20, also known as the North Cascades Highway, on Tuesday for the 2025 season.
North Cascades Highway travelers should plan for weather conditions, turn on headlights and stay alert for other vehicles on the road. There is no cell service through the mountain passes, the department reminded travelers in a Facebook post Tuesday. Most United States Forest Service and National Park Service facilities are still closed at this time.
Travelers may encounter maintenance or project work on the highway throughout the season. The transportation department has a real-time travel conditions map on its website.
