Snohomish man dies in multi-vehicle crash in Lake Stevens

Five vehicles were involved in Wednesday’s crash on Highway 92. Two others were taken to the hospital.

EVERETT — A Snohomish man died Wednesday after a five-vehicle crash on Highway 92 in Lake Stevens, authorities said.

Just after 4 p.m. Wednesday, the Washington State Patrol responded to reports of a multi-vehicle collision near 44th Street Northeast.

A gray Silverado, Ford Fusion, blue Silverado and Toyota Tundra were traveling east on Highway 92, a WSP report said. A Mack MD work truck was traveling west.

The gray Silverado struck the Ford Fusion, causing a chain reaction collision where the Fusion collided with the blue Silverado and the Toyota Tundra. The force of the collision caused the Fusion to cross into oncoming traffic and strike the Mack MD truck.

The Ford Fusion driver, Steven C. Prussel, 61, of Snohomish, died at the scene, the report said. Two other drivers were taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett with unknown injuries.

WSP reported speed as the cause. Drugs or alcohol were not involved.

Highway 92 remained closed for several hours on Wednesday during the crash investigation.
