LYNNWOOD — A man crashed a stolen construction vehicle into a Lynnwood bank Wednesday night in an apparently failed heist, police say.
Around 7:15 p.m., the man crashed the front loader into the Chase Bank in the 4000 block of Alderwood Mall Boulevard, according to Lynnwood police. Witnesses reported he rammed it into the bank at least three times, tearing out the wall.
After creating the hole, witnesses told police the man then got out of the front loader and tried to get in the bank. While it was unclear if he got in, no money was stolen, according to police.
The man, reportedly wearing a green hoodie and jeans, then left the bank on foot, going west. Lynnwood police deployed a drone and police dog to track the suspect. The dog found what police believe was the man’s sweatshirt, but the man wasn’t found.

Police determined the front loader was stolen from a nearby construction site on 196th Street. It was returned to the construction company, according to police.
Property restoration and consulting firms were at the site Monday boarding up the wall with debris strewn in the parking lot.
The parking lot was cordoned off with caution tape. A steady stream of cars were turned away as the bank remained closed.
A member of the restoration team said the bank could be closed for a while due to the heavy damage.
