Celebrate: Elks dedicate new Everett lodge
A dedication of the new Everett Elks Lodge is planned for 4 p.m. Saturday at 2802 Hoyt Ave., Everett.
The ceremony will be performed by Elks past exalted rulers Robert Erickson, Robert Cassidy, John Smevaag, Les Kickland, James Cassidy and Greg Browne. Honored guest will be Elks past national presidents Frank Garland and Roger True and Washington State Elks Association president Richard Mullen.

Volunteer: Plant native vegetation Saturday in Mill Creek
Volunteers are needed to help at a native planting event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Mill Creek Stream.
The Smokehouse building located along the stream on Bothell-Everett Highway was demolished in August. Volunteers will work with the city of Mill Creek and Adopt-A-Stream officials to bring the site back to its natural state by planting native vegetation.
Parking for the event is at Merrill Gardens Retirement Home, 14905 Bothell-Everett Highway, Mill Creek.
The planting event will happen rain or shine. Volunteers should bring gloves, boots and appropriate clothing, but no pets. Snacks and drinking water will be provided.

Tour: Check out new fire training tower
Snohomish County Fire District 1 will celebrate the grand opening of its new fire training tower with a dedication and open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
The event will be at the new training tower at the Fire District 1 Headquarters and Training Center campus, 12425 Meridian Ave., Everett.
The tower will be open to the public for tours. The open house will also feature firefighter training, ladder and rescue demonstrations using the new tower. Visitors can also try a 911 call simulator, learn about home safety in an interactive presentation, tour the ladder truck and get photos taken with the restored 1925 fire engine.
The new tower simulates conditions firefighters encounter and allows hands-on training. The tower will also be available for high school and college fire service students, other fire departments, law enforcement, public utilities and other agencies.
Construction costs for the tower were $1.2 million, paid with levy funds from the district’s capital improvement budget.

A free information session to review the volunteer opportunities at Providence Hospice and Home Care is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 18 in downtown Everett.

Listen: Folk harp circle planned
Harp players and community members are invited to participate in the Puget Sound folk harp circle at the Mountlake Terrace Library.
The music begins at 2 p.m. on Sunday. The library is located at 23300 58th Ave. W., Mountlake Terrace.
