50 years ago (1957)
Improved facilities to serve Everett’s motoring public were announced by Mel Winthers and Ken Bear with their new quarters on Grand Avenue. The two firms were occupying a new structure erected by Ivan Rimstad, Everett contractor. Well wishes came from Mac’s Electric, H.O. Seiffert, Goldfinch Bros., Callahan Plumbing &Heating, and Hickey LeMaster Building Supplies.
Barbara Hathaway, member of Merry Makers 4-H Club of Marysville, modeled her prize-winning suit in the style show tonight in the Marysville High School auditorium. She had participated in clothing projects for six of her eight years in 4-H work.
25 years ago (1982)
Emery Cole, owner of the Seahorse restaurant, was named Mukilteo’s 1982 Citizen of the Year. Business colleague and member of the selection committee, Peter Cattle, said Cole was highly respected in the restaurant industry. Cattle was co-owner of Geoducker’s Restaurant.
Rick Olson of Lake Stevens won the inaugural Equinox Arts Festival Poster Contest. Sponsored by Howard and Marcia Goldberg, the contest was open to students of Snohomish County high schools. Honorable mentions in the contest were awarded to Pirita Taskinen and Melissa Prickett.
