BOTHELL — A man was booked into the Snohomish County Jail weeks after deputies shot him in a standoff at a Bothell apartment complex.
Timothy Ewald, 29, faces charges of assault, burglary and domestic violence for an incident in February, according to the Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team, which investigates police use of force.
Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies responded to the complex in the 20000 block of Bothell-Everett Highway around 10:20 p.m. Feb. 7, following reports of a “physical domestic violence situation,” according to a press release.
Deputies found Ewald barricaded inside an apartment along with a 56-year-old woman who was being held against her will, the release said. There was also a child in the home at the time.
A responding officer deployed a Taser against Ewald “unsuccessfully,” the release said, after which Ewald allegedly charged at deputies with a weapon. Another deputy on the scene reportedly shot Ewald in response.
No one else at the scene was seriously injured, the release said. Ewald was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment of his injuries.
Ewald was booked into jail on March 1.
