SNOHOMISH — An assistant principal at a Snohomish middle school has been on administrative leave for over three months following allegations of child sexual abuse.

On Nov. 6, Lake Stevens police arrested Julian Parker for investigation of first-degree rape of a child. The allegations were not related to his work as an assistant principal at Centennial Middle School in the Snohomish School District.

The next day, Everett District Court Judge Tam Bui found probable cause for the allegation and set bail at $50,000. Bui ordered him to have no contact with minors. Parker, 37, posted bail and was released from the Snohomish County Jail that night.

On Monday, school district spokesperson Kristin Foley confirmed the district placed Parker on administrative leave “since learning of non-school related allegations.”

“As with all personnel matters, Snohomish School District cannot share details,” Foley continued. “Please be assured that as soon as the district became aware of the non-school related allegations, the district placed the assistant principal on administrative leave.”

He has been on leave since Sept. 4, Foley said.

In a phone call this week, Parker’s attorney Eric Lewis said, “The charge has been dismissed, the case has been closed. That’s really all we have.”

But on Wednesday, county Prosecutor Jason Cummings said police have referred the case to the prosecutor’s office for review. He called it an “active, open file.” Prosecutors haven’t charged Parker with a crime in Snohomish County Superior Court.

“It will take some time to work through the allegations that are in there to make that charging determination,” Cummings said, adding the case is “not closed in our office.”

Before coming to Centennial Middle School in July 2021, Parker was dean of students at Explorer Middle School in the Mukilteo School District starting in 2017, according to his LinkedIn. Before that, he taught math at McClure Middle School in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood.

He has no criminal history, court records show.
