EVERETT — Edmonds police are investigating the robbery of an elderly woman whose jewelry was stolen Friday in a WinCo parking lot.

On Friday, officers responded to a report of the victim being forcibly robbed, according to an Edmonds Police Department social media post. The victim was knocked to the ground during the robbery and assault, but is OK.

Edmonds police released a photo depicting the suspect vehicle from the incident.

According to the post, law enforcement is investigating an organized crew, described as males and females with “dark skin or being of Roma/Romani or Middle Eastern descent,” that uses distraction and deception to rob victims. Evidence suggests the suspects surveil victims before approaching them and offer electronics or other jewelry to distract victims.

The post encourages victims or individuals with family who have experienced a similar robbery to contact their local police.
