Volunteers help get Eagle Ridge p-patch ready

After experiencing one of the wettest winters on record, Lake Stevens had some catching up to do to get the Eagle Ridge Community Garden ready for planting. Thanks to the efforts of many volunteers, the garden is open and ready for business.
The latest group to offer support was the Pilchuck Soccer Alliance Force Select Boys 01 Team. Led by Michelle Steiner and Dan DuByne, the team members hail from Marysville, Everett, Stanwood, Arlington, Lake Stevens and Snohomish, and give back in their communities by helping with service projects such as the garden.
The club completed 80 percent of the fence wire installation, including digging a trench to bury part of the fence intended to keep out wildlife, nailing the wire fencing to the posts, and refilling the fence line with dirt.
There will be one final community garden work party on Aug. 19 to build more beds.
Beds are also still available for rent by calling Lake Stevens City Hall at 425-334-1012. Rental fee is $40 per bed per season.
