Beautiful lesson trumps test focus

Thank you for publishing the story of Nancy Fee’s second graders who are demonstrating compassion for others. (Thursday article, “It’s cool to be kind.”) As a public school teacher, I know the pressures of sticking to the lesson plans to raise test scores. It is nice to read about a teacher who can see the teachable moments and respond.
Clearly this dedicated teacher is teaching beyond MSP. I am glad she chose not to follow the script that day.
