Better plan needed for lockdowns

I am writing in response the Tuesday article, “Lockdown means chaos in Marysville High School.”

That situation was more stressful than for just one classroom. My son called me a number of times throughout the day and I could hear a lot of noise and the teacher yelling in the background.

As a foster parent I can see this situation becoming damaging to a child who has a history of trauma.

At 2 p.m. when school normally ended, my son left campus and got suspended for five days, along with a number of other students. There is only so much some children can handle. There is strong focus on keeping the children safe, but there is disregard to their mental health. I agree they need to have a better plan.
