Herald reporter vital to helping Marysville schools

I am a founding member of the Marysville Community Coalition. I am deeply saddened to hear news of the layoffs announced recently and urge The Herald’s owners to reconsider.

I can attest to the dedication and hard work of many of your staff I’m helping the Marysville Community come together in this great time of need when our school district is experiencing first ever actions by the state. If it weren’t for the hard work of Herald reporter Sophia Gates, we would not be anywhere close to where we are now in providing newsworthy information to our public.

I sincerely hope laying off these fine folks is reconsidered.
