Kathy Vaughn deserves re-election

This letter is in response to the Oct. 14 letter concerning Snohomish County PUD Commissioner Kathy Vaughn and the signing of the long-term contracts during the energy crisis of 2000-2001.

The real story is the leadership of Commissioner Vaughn in exposing the fraudulent energy market manipulation by Enron, forcing utilities in the Western region to sign contracts at exorbitant rates, due to Enron’s deceit. She should be commended for her courageous stand in exposing the schemes and scams that Enron perpetrated, and the PUD’s role in helping to uncover the tremendous damage done to ratepayers across the region.

Kathy Vaughn deserves our vote come election day.
