Loss of free parking a hardship for seniors group

Everett’s Friendship Club has been a part of the community for more than 60 years. It is a senior citizen organization that is not subsidized by the government.

We meet once a month for lunch, and bi-monthly take bus trips to events and places of interest. We have, until recently, used the remote northwest corner of the Everett Station parking lot for bus pickup and car parking without charge.

We have just been notified by Sound Transit that the “free ride” is over, and in the future we will be charged for both the space taken by the bus for pickup and delivery, as well as our individual cars.

For some of our seniors, who live on limited funds, this added expense will be a hardship and may prevent them from future participation.

Erickson Bros. Furniture Co. has graciously come forward offering us the use of their store parking lot. Thank you to the Erickson family for this great kindness.

But to Sound Transit, shame on you.
