Since the end of the last ice age, approximately 15,000 years ago, the world has been warming, glaciers have been melting, sea levels have been rising, atmospheric carbon dioxide increasing and no amount of taxation could have stopped it! So, what would be the ultimate effect of a carbon tax?
The ultimate effect will be that earth will continue, unabated, churning through its cycles, and you will experience annually escalating costs for everything you need to survive: automotive fuel, natural gas and propane, electricity, food, clothing, housing, and all consumer goods (increased costs will be passed on to consumers). And this is just the beginning.
What about a compost pile, a septic system, or a land-fill? All emit considerable levels of carbon. Should they also be taxed? I think not.
If you truly feel compelled to worry about something, perhaps you could dwell on the next period of glaciation in which massive glaciers will form, the world will cool, sea levels will fall, atmospheric carbon dioxide will decrease and no amount of taxation will be able to stop it!
Carbon is an essential natural element, without which, there is no life. Why would any rational person vote to tax it? They wouldn’t!
