The Trump folks ask: “Are you better off now than you were four years ago?”
Of course we are. Four years ago, in October 2020, hospitals and morgues were overflowing, schools and stores were closed and millions had been laid off.
What they mean to ask is :”Would you like the price of gas and groceries next year to be rolled back to 2018 levels?” But of course, neither Donald Trump nor Kamala Harris can credibly promise that of magically make it happen.
Nor would any of us want our incomes rolled back to 2018 levels. I, for example, have received six cost-of0living increases from Social Security since 2018.
