The public should be aware of fallacies in the judicial race between Mary Anderson and her opponent for Position 17 in the Snohomish County Superior Court.
There is outright misleading and false information about Mary Anderson’s ability to serve as your next judge. Anderson is trial attorney and judge pro-tem, presiding over 1,700 cases in criminal and civil matters. This is the foundation of many fallacies fabricated against Ms. Anderson, especially that her opponent is “the only candidate in this race with judicial experience” (Progressive Voters Guide). This misinformation is harmful when it comes from a reputable organization positing itself as a guide in achieving the community we wish to see. Furthermore, Mary Anderson’s opponent’s cmpaign appears to make up its support of diversity, further manipulating BIPOC and other marginalized groups by accepting and expressing gratitude for endorsement by the Diversity Council of Snohomish County, which was administratively dissolved on Feb. 9, 2023.
I believe our community deserves transparency and accuracy when it comes to the most basic facet of democracy. These fallacies hinder our ability to discharge the status quo, ensuring that we do not receive the representation or fairness we deserve in the courtroom. Not only is Anderson representative of this community, but she conveys the people’s voice wherever she goes and is committed to advancing that voice to a greater capacity if elected.
