AquaSox fall to Emeralds

Seattle Mariners reliever Ken Giles, on a rehab assignment, made the start for Everett.

EVERETT — The Eugene Emeralds scored three runs in the seventh inning and three more in the ninth to pull away for an 8-2 win over the Everett AquaSox on Friday at Funko Field.

Tyler Keenan hit a two-run home run for the AquaSox (20-27). Dariel Gomez added a two hits and Justin Lavey had a double.

Hunter Bishop hit a two-run home run in the top of the seventh and Ghordy Santos delivered a three-run blast in the ninth for the Emeralds (24-19).

Everett’s Bryce Miller (3-1) suffered his first loss after allowing three runs on four hits and two walks over six innings after entering the game in the third. He struck out 11.

Right-hander Ken Giles, on a rehab assignment, made the start as an opener for the AquaSox and allowed two runs on two hits and a walk in two-thirds of an inning.

Nick Morreale (2-3) earned the win for Eugene after striking out five in two scoreless innings of relief.

Swanson assigned to Sox

Seattle Mariners right-hander Erik Swanson has been assigned to the Everett AquaSox, the team announced Friday.

Swanson, 28, was placed on the 10-day IL on May 14 with right elbow inflammation. He posted a 1.29 ERA over 14 innings with 21 strikeouts and only one walk before the elbow injury.
