Arizona State beats Washington women 67-61 in overtime

TEMPE, Ariz. — Kayli Murphy scored a career-high 16 points and went 5 for 6 from the free-throw line in overtime to help Arizona State beat Washington 67-61 on Thursday night.

Murphy added 11 rebounds for her third career double-double. She had three assists, three steals and a block as the Sun Devils (14-7, 6-4 Pac-10) won for the fifth time in six games.

Laura McLellan scored six of her season-high 18 points in the extra period for the Huskies (9-11, 4-6).

Kali Bennett, who transferred to ASU from Washington after her freshman year, put back her own miss with 2:41 left in overtime to give the Sun Devils the lead for good, 61-59.

Washington’s Sami Whitcomb, the ninth-leading scorer in the Pac-10 at 14.8 points a game, was held to 10 points.
