Football Player of the Week
Raymond Fry, Mariner
Everybody at Mariner loves Raymond. Not so much at Lynnwood.
The senior fullback/cornerback/kick returner amassed 322 all-purpose yards and scored six touchdowns in a 48-42 victory over the Royals Friday.
Fry rushed 17 times for 211 yards and had breakaway TD runs of 66, 73 and 42 yards. He caught one screen pass and turned it into a 30-yard gain to the Lynnwood 2-yard line. He returned a punt 68 yards for a touchdown with six seconds to play in the first half. And he intercepted a pass in the Mariner end zone, preventing a possible Lynnwood touchdown in the second quarter.
“It was what we knew Raymond could do,” Mariner coach John Ondriezek said. “We’re counting on Raymond to continue to have those kinds of games.”
The six TDs were the most by a Mariner player in a game in Ondriezek’s tenure at the school, which began in 1982.
Ondriezek said Fry left the field only for kickoffs and point-after-touchdown plays.
